Formerly Maasai Amboseli Game Reserve, Amboseli National Park located in Loitoktok in Kajiado County near the Kenya-Tanzania border, is one of Kenya’s most iconic safari destinations covering an area of 39,206 ha (392.06 km2) in size. It is considered one of the oldest Parks in Kenya having been established in 1906 as a Game Reserve and then later upgraded to a National Park in 1974. Later in 1991, it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site to protect, preserve, and conserve the different unique species at the Park.

Famed for its stunning backdrop—Mount Kilimanjaro which is the highest pick in Africa and its thriving population of African Majestic Elephants popularly known as Tembo/ Ndovu in the local Swahili Language, the largest animals in the world. Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Amboseli is all year-round except for the few months of the year that experiences heavy rainfall in the months of April and May. The best Wildlife viewing is dry season which starts from June to December and from January to March.

How to Get There

Amboseli is easily accessible from Nairobi, approximately a 4-hour drive via road. Alternatively, visitors can opt for a short flight from Wilson Airport in Nairobi to one of the airstrips near the park.
